About the Restaurant

Jyran - Tandoor Dining & Lounge, Sofitel Mumbai BKC’s signature restaurant, introduces Mumbai to a magical Northwest Frontier Province culinary experience. "Jyran" means 'lost love' in Persian; a name symbolic of hope, new beginnings and emotions that follow.

A contemporary style and inspiration from the land of warriors and poets, the restaurant's entrance bar with its superb mixologists and eclectic music, gives a sense of warmth and welcome. An outdoor lounge and terrace area offers an al fresco seating with a view of the magnificent metal elephant that inspired the name of the restaurant.

Chef Shadab Ahmad Qureshi

Jyran’s Chef Shadab Ahmad, who originally hails from Lucknow, has perfected the art of cooking in his career spanning over 14 years. The food at Jyran – Tandoor Dining & Lounge stands testimony to the rich legacy of Nawabi cuisine and reveals a real mastery of flavours and textures that can be sensed in the delectable Raan Changezi – lamb marinated with Mughlai spices, pot-roast braised and finished in a tandoor, Tandoori Jhinga – tiger prawns marinated with hung curd, mustard oil and yellow chilli, cooked in a clay oven, or Murgh Bibi Ka Pulao – chicken cooked with brown onion and Indian spices flavoured with aromatic basmati rice. For the vegetarian taste-buds, there are special dishes such as Bhindi Aamchoori – okra cooked with onion tomato masala finished with mango, Parat Dar Paneer – layered cottage cheese stuffed with mushroom, fresh green peas and coriander or the luscious Kofta Subz Bahar – vegetable and cottage cheese dumpling in a rich sauce of tomato, onion and cashewnut gravy, creating a delicious flavour and aroma. A not-to-be missed dish is the Chef’s recommended dessert, Tabhakh Jamun – stuffed cottage cheese dumplings stewed in sugar syrup and topped with honey and dry fruits.
