About the Restaurant

Yataii is Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru’s Japanese restaurant on level 18 offering modern and classic delicacies from the regions of Japan.  It has a total indoor and outdoor seating capacity of 106 guests.

Yataii invites diners to an incredible arrival experience with views of the cityscape and sky from an open deck.  Its concept revolves around the organic elements appreciated by the Japanese.  The well-known Japanese dining culture was the inspiration for the meticulous process of selecting the restaurant’s design to achieve an inviting and relaxing modern Zen look.

Presenting a spectacular sky-dining experience in an elegant setting, Yataii brings a touch of authenticity and freshness to Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru.  In addition to serving traditional Japanese cuisine with authentic and imported ingredients, Yataii offers innovative preparations to add a more contemporary taste, with authentic flavours presented in a simplistic fashion to the delight of its guests.

As in Japanese culture, Yataii focuses not only on the cooking, but also on the art of food presentation and its explanation.  It aims at pleasing the eye and the taste buds.  The service staff interacts with guests and explain the menu offerings with efficiency and friendliness.  Food is showcased, be it the fresh Sushi ingredients or food orders about to be sizzled.  The chefs, led by Head Chef Atsushi Yonaha, pride themselves on the freshness of the products while engaging interactions take place in a carefree setting.

Yataii also offers a wide variety of sakes and cocktails created using freshly prepared juices and infused liquors.  The signature cocktail to experience is Gari-Shu, which is made from infused vodka and pomegranate juice.

Sake is offered hot or cold, by the bottle or carafe.  Yataii also offers an elaborate range of global whiskies, with a collection of 28 global and locally sourced kinds.

Japanese Head Chef Atsushi Yonaha brings with him over 10 years of diverse culinary experience. He has developed a keen learning and mastered in-depth professional insights in Kaiseki, Sushi, Sashimi, Kappo-ryori and creative Japanese cuisine.
 
Chef Atsushi Yonaha has been part of our pre-opening team at Shangri-La hotel, Bengaluru has been a favourite among the guests for his culinary expertise and guest interactions. Calm and composed but a keen eye for detailing Atsushi Yonaha has worked with other hospitality brands like The Ritz-Carlton, Japan and Radisson 
Blue Hotel, Dubai Creek – Dubai.
