Rathnaraj Joseph is the Executive Chef at the Westin Chennai Velachery, His view of his profession is based on two main ideas - his desire to share his passion for good food and his determination to create an experience worth remembering for his diners. Chef Joseph joined the Starwood family in May 2014, coming on board with an experience spanning over 20 years in the culinary world.
Chef Joseph started his career with Quality Inn Kensington Terrace, Bangalore as a Chef De Partie and since then has proven his talent while working with eminent names such as Taj SATS Air catering Ltd, Radisson Blu GRT Temple bay, Radisson Blu GRT Hotel, in the hospitality industry. His illustrious career spans across India, Mediterranean, Middle East and Asia, working not only within the hotels but also broadening his horizon both on Cruisliners and Airlines.
At The Westin Chennai Velachery, he is responsible for the food and beverage operations of the hotel which includes ‘EEST’ the finest pan asian restaurant in the city, “Seasonal Taste’ the 24 hour multi cuisine restaurant and a huge banqueting operations. Joseph has crafted a rich and diverse menu incorporating signature SuperFood elements. SuperFoods are foods rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients. SuperFoods include fruit, vegetables, grains and proteins that are known to improve well-being and longevity, a signature offering at Westin Hotels & Resorts.
After his stint in Banglore, Joseph moved onto Cruise Carnival where he had the opportunity to be trained in the Michellin Star Chef ; George Blanc’s restaurant in Vonnas France. He was also selected to work for 4 consecutive prestigious “Chaine the Rotisserie” world conferences for international Michelin star chefs. Chef Joseph also holds the credential of successfully opening 8 cruise ships of the world with 3000 passenger and 1000 crew. Post Cruisliners, Joseph moved onto Taj Flight Kitchen, Bangalore where he created a mark for himself by representing the company in London for a 3 days workshop on Dégustation menu, a new concept for the British Airways First class.
Over and above work, he loves adventure sports, cricket and unwinding by going on long drives. He loves to spend time with his family and create recipes as a hobby.
