The Leela Palace Bangalore is pleased to announce the much awaited edition to its fine dining experiences - ‘Le Cirque Signature’. Helmed by Chef Matteo Boglione, who brings signature dishes from the flagship Le Cirque New York, the menu features a creative culinary flair for Italian and French cuisine, complemented by a repertoire of French and Italian wines. Revered by critics of New York City, Chef Matteo’s guests include Leonardo Di Caprio, Sarah Jessica Parker, Woody Allen, David Bowie and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Highlights of the menu include the fragrant saffron risotto, Tuna Tartare which features Ahí tuna with mango coulis and signature desserts, including, Baked Alaska, an assemblage of Swiss almond ice cream and vanilla sponge cake and the Eggplant mille foiglie, an unsual but delightful dessert with white chocolate mousse, hazelnut and delicate eggplant wafers.
The interiors display refined elegance with the backdrop showcasing a stunning glass arch, offering a panoramic backdrop of the Palaces’ grand architecture and lush greenery. The intimate décor is set in subtle tones of beige, ebony and ochre along with a touch of bold sophistication with Murano glass chandeliers. Guests can also choose the alfresco seating, for a charming and casual lounge atmosphere. Upon entering, guests are treated to the famous wire drawings illustrated by Tim Flynn exclusively for Le Cirque, depicting imaginative scenes from the great Indian circus.
Siro Marcioni, founder of the New York restaurant group, created the title ‘Le Cirque’ to capture the gastronomical spectacle that enthralled his guests. With a loyal international following of the crème de la crème from Hollywood, politics and business, Siro Marcioni saw his brand expand to iconic locations around the world including the Bellagio in Las Vegas, the Dominican Republic and in Asia with The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts. Celebrating it’s second opening after Mumbai, Le Cirque Signature strengthens the two stalwarts of the hospitality industry emerging as pioneers in the Indian hospitality sector with the sensational brand – Le Cirque.
Chef Matteo Boglione’s culinary philosophy is bold and thoughtful, transforming customary ingredients through inventive and sophisticated preparations, while simultaneously seeking out the most unique specialty items from all around the world. During his two-decade long career, Chef Matteo has worked with esteemed contemporary Italian restaurants such as Falai and Gradisca. A chef par excellence, he has been conferred some of the biggest honors by the revered critics of New York City. Within two weeks of opening the doors of Il Matto to guests, he was mentioned in the New York Michelin Guide. 2009 saw Matteo featured on the cover of La Cucina Italiana, for his interesting interpretation of dishes with Farro. His guests over years include Leonardo Di Caprio, Victoria’s Secret models, Sarah Jessica Parker, Woody Allen, David Bowie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Joaquin Phoenix.
Born to an American mother and an Italian father, his love affair with gastronomy began over the Saturday afternoon baking sessions spent with his mother. Since graduating in 1993 from Aurelio Saffi, he has travelled to many destinations across the world, before eventually returning to New York . ‘My recipes are inspired by the places I have visited, and Japan is the biggest influence’, he says.
Matteo began as a nomadic chef with the racing teams of companies such as Ferrari, Peugeot and Alfa Romeo, and realised the relevance of adaptability in a Chef. Matteo opened up his own restaurant, Il Matto in 2010 in New York City. It was his flair that made the Maccioni family to invite him to join the Le Cirque Group in 2012.
At Le Cirque Signature, he curates an eclectic mix of Le Cirque classics that include Lobster salad, Spaghetti Primavera, Paupiette of black bass and Dover sole. Matteo dreams of releasing his own cook book filled with tales of his travels and secret recipes someday.
