Chef Tetsu Akahira, a well travelled chef, is the Master Chef at Sakura, The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa, New Delhi and Time Tower Gurgaon.
High-end Japanese cuisine and chef Tetsu are synonymous with each other.
Chef Tetsu belongs to Shizuoka province in Japan and started his career at Tomikyu a restaurant with Sushi as a specialty, in Hiratsuka city in Japan. After working for five years at Tomikyu, he moved to International hotel Nikko, Japan as second chef and worked there for another five years. Later he moved to countries like US, Australia, Egypt, Hong Kong and Bangkok. He came to India in 2010, and has since then been associated with Sakura. According to him, "The Indian hotel industry is the second largest hotel industry in Asia-Pacific region after China. The fast growth of the Indian hotel industry gives vast opportunities to hospitality professionals like him to show the talent and culinary skills."
With more than 40 years of solid experience Chef Tetsu believes that innovation is the most important thing in a menu. He likes to experiment with traditional Japanese dishes and tries to innovate as much as he can.
Besides being an authority on Japanese food, Chef Tetsu loves to play golf and read interesting books in his leisure time.
