About the Restaurant

The southern regions of India have an uncommonly rich harvest of spices and terrains with the sort of affable weather conditions that encourage an expansive bounty of flora. Added to this, India’s considerable coastline, which extends all the way along the southern peninsula, has resulted in an equally rich diet of seafood.

Dakshin brings you a rare feast of dishes prepared from recipes that have been culled from kitchens – both humble and royal, across the region for a rich and diverse spread that is impossible to find in restaurants across the country. All this comes to you under one roof, for the first time in Mumbai.

Delight in feasts from Chettinad, Nellore, Mangalore, Kerala, Mysore, Tanjore and much more, served in a traditional ambience, with the warm attention of our service associates, at Dakshin, Mumbai’s most authentic South Indian cuisine restaurant.

Chef Padmaja Divakaran

Born to a family of engineers and doctors, Chef Padmaja’s tryst with kitchen was nothing short of serendipity. Her interest in food was from a very young age, when she was a school kid she would try recipes at home and bake cakes for birthdays.

Chef Padmaja is today a Sous Chef looking after the Dakshin Coastal.

A graduate from WGSHA, Chef Padmaja began her career with the ITC Hospitality Management Institute, ITC Limited, Hotels Division  –  Kitchen Executive Trainee in the year 2006. After training for two years, she was then posted to ITC Maratha. Further to her current assignment her experience at ITC Maratha  includes operations and management of The Peshwa Pavilion – the Coffee Shop and West View the Grill Room.

With Dakshin Coastal, Chef Padmaja goes back to her roots to re-discover the culture and cuisine that she grew up with.
